Public holidays in Sweden can be divided into Christian and non-Christian holidays. An official holiday is sometimes referred to as “red day” and it is quite common for some businesses to close at noon the day before certain holidays.

The first foreign bank was founded in 1986, when foreign banks were allowed to open subsidiaries representation in Sweden. In the early 90's due to the financial crisis, their number decreased significantly, but later it was decided to allow open branches, which was the increase in the number of foreign banks (30 banks at the end of 2009). The main activity of the majority of foreign banks - is the corporate banking and deposit market. The largest foreign bank is Danske Bank.
