The first foreign bank was founded in 1986, when foreign banks were allowed to open subsidiaries representation in Sweden. In the early 90's due to the financial crisis, their number decreased significantly, but later it was decided to allow open branches, which was the increase in the number of foreign banks (30 banks at the end of 2009).
